I’ve been asked a few times already for places to stay. Here’s what I know for sure. There just isn’t a lot around. Here’s what I’ve dug up so far and I’ll update it as I get news or find more. As of Feb. 4th

Camping:

The surest bet is
Chattahoochee Bend State Park. I’ve camped here several times. It’s a very nice facility. It is about 30-minutes away though. We (MTB Atlanta) are actually building MTB Trails here and this will be a MTB destination at some point.

The closest bet is
McIntosh Reserve Park. Only 14-miles from the start, McIntosh is the closest. (It’s literally across the river from Chatt Bend) It has 50 primitive sites based on a first come, first serve basis. However, you have to register, so they recommend calling ahead. You can find more info here.

Brush Creek is 20-minutes. Never stayed here, but it gets “ok” reviews.

Or this looks to be about 25-minutes way.

Lake Wedowee
(There are several campsites around the lake, but the lake is big, so I would check on the distance from Ephesus, GA)

This place that is close by. I spoke with them about a year ago, but haven’t since.

Or Bushhead shoals has primitive camping (or so it says. I would call)

Hotels:

Carrolton is 14-miles from the start and is the closest large town to eat, shop, stay, etc. There are plenty of hotel options.
